Effect of Planting Dates, Sources and Levels of Nitrogen on Growth, Flowering and Seed Yield in African Marigold (Tagetes Erecta Linn.)

Abstract

Planting done in February had maximum flower size (6.70 cm), number of flowers/plant (53.33) and flower yield/plant (296.10 g) whereas, July planting resulted maximum plant height (108.30 cm), plant spread (41.85 cm), seed yield/plant (23.12 g) and seed number/head (191.62). Best flower and seed characters were obtained with 30 g nitrogen/m2 when applied through calcium ammonium nitrate.
