Abstract

Cocopeat + sawdust + sand (1:1:1 v/v) was found to be the best with respect to number of days required for bud initiation (75.0), flower diameter (9.47 cm), flower stalk length (35.31 cm), number of flowers/plant (29.55), number of flowers/m2 (210.0) and vase life (13.35 day). Cost of production of gerbera cv. Paganini in 100m2 using best growing medium i.e. cocopeat + sawdust + sand (1:1:1 v/v) based upon the results obtained was calculated for Solan-Nauni condition. Cost analysis in growing gerbera showed that growers can earn a net profit of Rs. 18794.00/100m2.
