Abstract

An efficient mass. multiplication protocol was developed for rose cv. Benjamin Paul in vitro using axillary buds. Out of the several media tried with different growth regulators, the maximum (100%) shoot proliferation was achieved on MS modified medium supplemented with 2.0 mg/1 BAP + 0.1 mg/1 NAA. The regenerated shoots were transferred to the rooting media. The highest percentage of rooting was observed in half-strength MS basal medium supplemented with 0.5 mg/1 IBA. The rooted plantlets were planted into the pots for hardening and transplanted into the field.
