Abstract

In order to determine the optimum size and shape of plots for carnation crop under fan and pad cooling system greenhouse condition, an uniformity trial was laid out at I.I.H.R. Bangalore. The results revealed that a plot size of 1.8 square metre, corresponding to a plant stand of eight, arranged in a rectangular shape, is ideal for conducting field experiment in standard carnation cultivar Desio under greenhouse condition. It was also noticed that the competition between plants was negligible and the soil heterogeneity was found to be less.
