Abstract

The maximum fresh and dry weight of leaves/plant and plant height were observed with spray of GA3 @ 100 ppm followed by 200 ppm, whereas kinetin at 50 ppm resulted in maximum number of leaves/plant and leaf area index. All chemicals failed to give conspicuous effect on number of days taken to ripening of seeds. GA3 at 200 ppm increased number of seeds/flower followed by GA3 @ 100 ppm and kinetin @ 100 ppm. However, striking effect of GA3 @ 100 ppm was noticed on increasing seed weight/ flower and weight of 100 seeds followed by 200 ppm GA3 and 100 ppm kinetin. Whereas maximum seed yield/ plant was also recorded with GA3 @ 100 ppm which was at par with GA3 @ 200 ppm and IAA @ 100 ppm treatments. In general, all growth promoting chemicals enhanced seed production over control.
