Abstract

An experiment was conducted in the labomtory during 2000 at Kittur Rani Cbannamma College of Horticulture, Arabbavi to study the seed quality parameters in different genotypes of china aster (Callistephw chinensis). The results indicated significant difference among genotypes for 1000 seed weight, germination percentage, root length, shoot length, seedling length, root to shoot ratio and seedling dry weight. While non significant difference was observed for vigour index. The highest germination percentage was recorded in Pule Ganesh White (100010), while lowest was in Kamini (71.67%). The genotype Pule Ganesh Pink showed maximum 1000 seed weight (2.91g), root length (1.90cm), shoot length(2.9cm), seedling length (4.8cm) and seed Jingdry weight(l3.0mg). The genotype Kamini showed lowest 1000 seed weight (1.8mg), root length (1.25cm), shoot length (2.32cm), seedling length (3.57cm) and seedling dry weight (9.33mg).
