Philodendron is a very beautiful ornamental foliage plant, adding an aesthetic value in the garden and as a indoor plant in the indoors. It is commonly propagated by clonal method However, this is rather a slow process to meet the demand of planting materials. Therefore, the trial was conducted to standardize the protocol for micropropagation of philodendron for rapid multiplication. Nearly 90 per cent establishment was obtained from segments containing axillary buds on MS medium supplemented with BAP and IAA. Proliferation of shoots and shoot elongation were enhanced by lowering the levels of BAP and IAA. Successful establishment and proliferation were also obtained with only BAP as supplement to MS medium. But establishment and proliferation were significantly stimulated by incorporation of IAA along with BAP. In case of rooting of in vitro shoots, it was successfully induced on half MS medium with incorporation of IBA. In vitro plantlets were hardened well in pots filled with mixture of soil, leaf mould, and tera care. Acclimatized plants were grown with cent per cent success under normal conditions.
