Abstract

Genetic variability, heritabilitv and genetic advance of different yield contributing characters were studied in nine tuberose (Polianthes tuberosa Linn.) varieties viz., Local Single, Local Double, Shringar, Suvasini, Variegaled, Vaibhav, Prajwal Hyderabad Single and Hyderabad Double. Moderate degree of variability was observed for all the characters under study. Very high estimates of heritability coupled with moderate to high genetic advance as per cent of mean was noticed for 100 floret weight, spike weight, weight of bulbs/plant, length of flower stalk, plant height and rachis length.
