Stability of number of flowers and its component characters was analyzed in 23 gerbera (GJ) accessions of IIHR. All 10 economical characters found to be independent. Stability estimates of S2di were obtained for each genotype and character. The stalk diameter had maximum number of stable accessions followed by floretdiameter, whiledays to marketable stage had lowest number of stable genotypes. The per cent flowering behaving in an unpredictable way due to high proportions of linear component. The hypothesis also supported the fact that number of flowers had significant correlation with total number of stable characters. The interaction effect of different characters also suggested the pleotropsim in gerbera.
Correlation co-efficient, genotype x environment interaction, gerbera. heritability, linear component stability
