Abstract

In vitro cloning was made for faster and true to the type multiplication in gladiolus cv. American Beauty. The sterilant treatment of 70% ethanol (30 sec) followed by 1% NaOCI (10 min) was found to be the best for sterilizing the axillary bud explant. The single elongated bud derived form the axillary bud explant produced maximum number of shoots (251.61) as compared to bisected bud mass in MS medium supplemented with kinetin 4 mg/1, MS medium supplemented with IBA 0.75 mg/1 was obeserved to be efficient for rooting purpose.
