Performance of gerbera (Gerbera jamesonii Bolus ex. Hooker F.) hybrids under sub-tropical mid-hills altitude of Meghalaya

Abstract

An investigation was carried out to assess the performance of 32 hybrids (5 Singles, 5 Semi-double and 22 Double) of gerbera (Gerbera jamesonii Bolus ex. Hooker F.) under open field condition in the sub-tropical mid-hills altitude of Meghalaya. Significant differences were recorded for various characters studied. The results revealed that RCGH-117 produced maximum stalk length (47.66cm), flower diameter (11.52cm), length of ray florets (5.50cm), fresh weight of flower stalk (7,80g) and flower (6.74g). Maximum number suckers per plant was recorded in RCGH-89 (9.60). Maximum stalk diameter (0.60cm) was recorded in RCGH-63.
