Abstract

The germination response of Arundina bambusifolia embryos was tested in Nitsch based medium supplemented with various concentrations and combinations of IA A, NAA and complex organic 0.5 mg/1 additives. Results showed that Nitsch media supplemented with 1 mg/1IAA + 0.5 mg/1 NAA + 1 mg/1 BAP + 0.5 mg/1 ME was found to be the best for seed germination (91.67%) and protocorm development (6.33 week). The longest shoot (4.93cm) and root (3.23cm) were observed in IAA (1 mg/1) in conjunction with NAA (05 mg/1). Artificial seeds stored at 4°C by embedding with liquid parafin, when recultured at one month interval showed shoot and root emergence frequencies from 70–90%, which was observed upto 120 day of storage.
