Abstract

The performance of bedding type a??? cut flower type gerberas was evaluated at Horticultural Research Station, Yercaud (Tamil Nadu). A total of 63 gerbera accessions were evaluated for their plant and floral traits. Among these, based on their performance, the promising seven accessions and ten named cultivars were selected and assessed again. The maximum plant height (27.73 cm) and flower yield/plant/year (78.48) were recorded by the accession Gj. 23. The longest stalk length (58.73 cm) was measured by the accession Gj. 5. The maximum of 035 cm was measured as diameter of the flower stalk in the accession Gj. 23 and it also recorded maximum flower diameter of 10.17 cm. The same accession recorded more suckers/plam/year (11.27) and longest vase life (10.92 day). Among the ten cut flower genotypes, Rosalin performed well for the characters like plant height (27.75 cm), flower yield/plant/year (23.35), flower diameter (11.65), number of suckers/plan/year (10.32) and longest vase life (16.33 day).
