Postharvest management of cut flowers is one of the important aspects of floriculture industry. Work is on progress to develop crop specific protocol of holding solutions to increase the vase life. Present article reports how different holding solutions affect the postharvest quality of cut flowers and what a grower can do to optimize their postharvest performance of cut flowers. Eleven NBRI, Lucknow developed popular chrysanthemum (Dendrathema grandiflora Tzvelve.) cut flower culrivars were selected for the present experiment and cut sprays were collected from field grown plants at uniform size and colour show stage. Sprays were kept in different holding solutions. Sucrose (2%) + AgNO3 (25ppm) + Citric add (75ppm) and sucrose (2%) + 8HQC (500ppm) are recommended best holding solution for bud opening and increased vase life in chrysanthemum.
