Abstract

Influence of low temperature on growth, flowering and vase life of tulip cv. Cassini was carried out with four (0,45,60,70 day) pre-cooling durations at 7°C during 2002–2003 and 2003–2004. During both the years, 70 day of precooling at 7°C was superior in reducing the days to bulb sprouting, days to visible floral bud formation, flower bud blast, field life, number of days for flower opening and in maximum scape thickness, vase life and flower opening, whereas, significantly maximum scape length and flower diameter was recorded without precooling.
