Studies on corm and cormel production in gladiolus

Abstract

Two experiments were conducted to observe the influence of various cultural operations on corm multiplication of gladiolus cv. Jester. The results showed that planting of whole corm is beneficial for the production of corms and cormel, as compared to 3/4 and 1/2 size Further, planting of cormel, in soil + leaf mould substrate in equal proportion improved corm diameter, weight of corm and cormel number and their weight when compared with soil, FYM, Soil + FYM, FYM + Leaf mould and soil + FYM + Leaf mould.
