Abstract

Since 1985, lymphoma is an AIDS defining illness and Non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (NHL) is the second most common neoplasm behind Kaposi's sarcoma in these patients. Individuals with AIDS have a 100 to 300 times higher risk to develop a NHL in comparison with general population. The NHL are a heterogeneous group of lymphoproliferative malignancies which can involve lymph nodes and lymphoid organs as well as extranodal organs and tissues. As compared to Hodgkin's lymphoma NHL occurs more frequently in the oral cavity. The presence of NHL may give an important clue for undiagnosed HIV infections. Here we report an unusual case of NHL involving the oral cavity in previously undiagnosed HIV patient.
