In the clinical scenario, patients complain of food impaction between the three terminal molars. At times proximal caries is diagnosed and treated with a proximal restoration or a crown. But some times, there is absence of proximal caries accompanied by a gap between the distal and the mesial marginal ridges of adjacent molars. This can be attributed to distal migration of the terminal molars. Such gaps can be closed by altering the occlusal anatomy of the involved molars.
