The perception of esthetics varies from person to person, also influenced by society, culture and age.
To assess the perception to beauty amongst the young adult and aging adult population, and also to ascertain if differences exist in their perception of beauty.
Sixty female respondents divided into Group A (aged 20–35 years) and Group B (aged 50–65 years) were recruited for this study. Each respondent was shown an album containing photographs of Indian cine actors from yesteryear and current day and asked certain questions.
A statistically significant difference was obtained amongst the population regarding perception of beauty. Young adults preferred current day beauty icons whereas aging adult preferred yesteryear beauty icons.
This study was undertaken to primarily access the diversity and convergence in the perception of beauty amongst varying age groups.
