Oral mucoceles are small-size, benign minor salivary gland pathologies. Mucoceles are known to occur most commonly on the lower lip, followed by the floor of mouth and buccal mucosa being the next most frequent sites. They are caused by trauma, orthodontic devices, or biting habits. Two histological types exist–extravasation and retention phenomenon. Mucous retention phenomenon less frequently seen than mucous extravasation phenomenon. The purpose of this article is to describe a case of mucocele (mucous retention cyst) in lower labial mucosa.
