Abstract

Impactions are frequently encountered clinical problem, which requires an interdisciplinary approach. Surgical exposure of the impacted tooth and the complex orthodontic mechanisms leads to varying amounts of damage to the supporting structures of the tooth and the treatment duration is usually long Hence, it is important to focus on the means of early diagnosis and interception of impacted teeth. This review provides an overview of the incidence, aetiology and surgical and orthodontic management of impacted teeth.
