Aim: The aim of present study is to compare the correlation of subgingival temperature with increasing pocket depth in chronic periodontitis patient.
Method: 40 male subjects suffering from chronic periodontitis in age group of 30–50 years were selected to participate in this study. At baseline examination pocket depth, subgingival temperature, sublingual temperature and temperature differential were recorded on deepest site of tooth in the selected arch. Scaling and root planing were performed for the selected arch and after 21 days, pocket depth, subgingival temperature, sublingual temperature and temperature differential were again recorded. The data thus compiled were put to statistical analysis.
Results: It revealed a positive correlation of the subgingival temperature with increasing pocket depths when mean subgingival temperature and mean pocket depth of Group I, Group II and Group III at baseline were compared after 21 days the difference between them were found to be significant (p<0.00).
