Idiopathic Gingival fibromatosis (IGF) is a rare heterogenous group of disorders characterized by progressive enlargement of gingiva caused by increase in submucosal connective tissue elements. This form of enlargement is usually seen in children and rare in adults and is most commonly generalized. We report a rare case of unilateral idiopathic gingival fibromatosis, in a 33 year old female who had a negative family history for the condition. The diagnosis was established through history, clinical examination and histopathology. Surgical treatment which included gingivectomy was carried out. The case showed remarkable aesthetic and functional improvement.
