Extraneous materials of varied nature are often introduced into maxillofacial region by diverse mechanisms. Retrieval of these foreign bodies may be quite challenging due to their size, location and the adjacent vital structures. Imaging techniques like CT and MRI are very helpful in localizing and deciding the surgical removal of these objects. Unfortunately, the private clinics have yet to equip themselves with these advanced imaging modalities available and in such setups Conventional radiographic techniques can serve as an easy and effective alternative for localization of these embedded foreign bodies. This article, reports a case in which a simple modification in Conventional Extra-oral radiographic technique was used to successfully localize and retrieve a foreign body embedded in the maxillofacial region.
