Abstract

In forensic identification mouth allows for a myriad of possibilities Palatoscopy is the name given to study of palatal rugae in order to establish person's identity.

Patterns will be studied for various purposes mainly in the field of anthropology, comparative anatoimy, genetics, forensicodontology, prosthetics orthodontics5

To identify the different rugae patterns and to differentiate between the rugae patterns in Male and Temale subjects of the population being studied.

A total of 100 dentate subjects comprising of 50 males & 50 females with an age range of 20–40 years are included. A total of 1159 rugae pattern were studied and classified using Thomas et al classification system.

wavy, straight & converged pattern showed predominance in female population whereas straight, wavy & diverged showed predominance in male population.
