The diagnosis of oraC precancer and cancer remains a challenge to dental profession particularly in detection, evaluation and management of early phase alterations or frank disease. But when diagnosedin early stages this disease is 90% curable. Oral Lumenoscopy is basically oral lesion identification with Vizilite Plus and marking system with Toluidine Blue. As neoplastic epithelial cells have an altered nuclear-cytoplasmic ratio, dehydration with acetic acid highlights this nuclear density and imparts “acetowhite” appearance to tissue. This phenomenon is further amplified by replacing conventional lightening with diffuse blue white chemiluminescent illumination and staining with toluidine blue that specifically stains premalignant lesions. The purpose of this article is to review the improved oral screening method “oral lumenoscopy” for early detection of cancer.
