Palisaded Encapsulated Neuroma: Unusual growth in oral cavity

Peripheral nerve tumors rarely occur in the oral cavity which includes neurofibroma, schwanoma and palisaded encapsulated neuroma. This case report presents a case of palisaded encapsulated neuroma occurring in oral cavity at an unsusal site i.e. attached gingival in relation to left mandibular 2^nd molar. Palisaded encapsulated neuroma is a benign neural neoplasm of the skin or mucosa that displays histologic features of both neurofibroma and schwannoma. Majority of palisaded encapsulated neuroma/Schwann Cell Neuroma's occur in skin, mucosal sites such as the glans penis, nasal fossa and mouth are also affected, oral lesions being the second most frequent. Palisaded encapsulated neuroma is a completely benign lesion with no recurrence after the surgical excision.
