A rare combination of central giant cell granuloma and residual cyst - a case report

The central giant cell granuloma (CGCG) of the jaws is usually a non-neoplastic bone lesion accounting for fewer than 7% of all benign tumors of the jaws. Most commonly occur in the mandible, predominantly in females. The clinical behavior of central giant cell granuloma (CGCG of the jaws is variable and difficult to predict. Patients of CGCG might be either totally asymptomatic or present with aggressive growth associated with pain, massive swelling, roo resorption, cortical perforation, and/or recurrence. A radicular cyst that remains behind in the jaw after the removal of the offending tooth and this is referred to as a residual cyst. Herewith presenting a case report of 25 yrs old female reported with the chief complaint of pain & swelling present in the lower right back region since last 8 months. After thorough clinical examination, radiographic & histopathological examinations, it was diagnosed as “Central Giant Cell Granuloma in relation to 46 region” and residual cyst in relation to 36.
