Distalization of molar, in current times has evolved as an alternative method of space gaining to conventional methods such as extraction and proximal slicing where ever indicated.A patient with class I skeletal bases and an acceptable profile, with minimal space requirements for relief of crowding or mild protrusion can possibly be best treated by distalization without sacrifice of tooth material. This article provides a comprehensive review of the advantages, indications, case selection and various appliances used for molar distalization.
