Periodontitis is an inflammatory disease of multifactorial origin characterized by inflammation and the subsequent destruction of the tooth supporting tissue. Non-surgical and surgical periodontal therapy for access is employed to improve short and long term clinical outcomes of teeth with compromised periodontal health. Minimally invasive dentistry, a concept with minimized incisions and trauma to the hard and soft tissue, has proven to be advantageous over the conventional therapy. Advances in periodontal disease control have opened up a variety of treatments that can successfully prevent periodontal infections. This review focuses on Tri-Immuno Phasic Periodontal Therapy (TIP), which allows clinician to go apical to the gum line and destroy anaerobic bacteria non-surgically. This procedure provides an effective, safe and less traumatic alternative for the treatment of periodontitis.
