Endodontic Treatment of Maxillary First Molar with 2 Palatal Canals: A Case Report

Root canal anatomy is highly complex and unpredictable. The knowledge of the normal and its frequent variations can greatly enhance the success rate of endodontic practice. In this study we reported arare case report of maxillary first molar with 2 palatal root canal systems characterized by two canal orifices and two canals that appeared to unite in the apical third of the root which constitute type II canal configuration according to Vertucci's classification. For successful root canal therapy it is important for the clinician to be able to determine the type of canal configuration. As most frequent cause of endodontic failure is an untreated canal that is been left or missed out during endodontic therapy.
