Abstract

To evaluate efficiency of CPP-ACP paste for reducing dentin hypersensitivity and compare with potassium nitrate dentifrice.

20 patients complaining of tooth hypersensitivity were randomly assigned to two treatment groups: Patient in Group - 1 (Potassium Nitrate Toothpaste) were instructed to brush twice daily with 5% KNO3 dentifrice a nd i n G roup - 2 (CPP-ACP P aste) to ap ply p aste e very night b efore s leep. B aseline sensitivity scores, 15 m inutes, 4 weeks and 6 weeks indicating dentinal hypersensitivity level to tactile stimuli and air blast were recorded on visual analogue scale.

Both Groups showed highly significant difference (P<0.001) at 4 and 6 weeks period compared to baseline and 15 minutes but no statistical significant difference (P>0.05) was found in between groups.

Topical s elf-application o f G C Tooth Mousse containing CPP-ACP or brushing twice daily with 5% P otassium nitrate dentifrice for a t le ast 4 weeks r educes d iscomfort a rising from d entinal hypersensitivity.
