The goal of dentistry is to maintain a healthy, functional and stable dentition. Many times to achieve this goal the therapy require a well co-ordinated combination of various levels of periodontal and restorative treatment. A number of teeth with reduced periodontal support can no longer be regenerated and so have to be maintained. With the modern days of technique, it is very much possible to maintain such periodontally compromised dentition on a long term basis with use of dental splints. Hence this article reveals about various situations of tooth mobility and its clinical and biological rationale for teeth splinting.
