Abstract

Concept of host modulation therapy is to decrease periodontal destruction & to regenerate the periodontal tissues by decreasing destructive components of host response and by increasing protective or regenerative processes. Various host modulation agents are used. Bisphosphonates decreased alveolar bone resorption in experimentally activated periodontitis in animal subjects Bisphosphonates increased alveolar bone health in human subjects.
