Abstract

Lymphatic metastasis is the most important mechanism in the spread of head and neck SCC. The risk of LN involvement by metastasis varies depending on the site of origin, size, histological grade of the primary tumor, perineural invasion, perivascular invasion, and extracapsular spread. SOHND is indicated for the prophylactic treatment of occult neck disease in cancers known to metastasize to these group of nodes, i.e., cancers of oral cavity
