The understanding of pathogenesis, incidence, progression, and severity of periodontal disease has been contributed by the identification of the periodontal risk factors, however the current methods of risk assessment are confusing, this article focuses on the various methods of periodontal risk assessment and some data related to the recent documented risk elements.
