Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic autoimmune, mucocutaneous disease that affects the oral mucosa as well as the skin, genital mucosa, scalp, and nails. It is one of the most common dermatological diseases presenting in the oral cavity. An immune-mediated pathogenesis is recognized in lichen planus, although the exact etiology is unknown. There are many variants of lichen planus, of which Pigmented Lichen Planus is a rare variant. The purpose of this article is to present a rare case of pigmented oral lichen planus involving the palate in a 22yr old male patient.
