Cysts of the jaws, though are not aggressive in nature, few exceptions do exist. Odontogenic keratocyst is one such entity which is unique in its morphological characteristics, highly recurrent with an aggressive behaviour. Two entities namely, parakeratinized odontogenic keratocyst (OKC) and orthokeratinized odontogenic cyst (OOC) have been described with OOC been the milder variant of OKC. According to WHO's new classification, OOC is not a part of the spectrum of KCOT and should be distinguished from the latter.
We present two cases of orthokeratinized odontogenic cysts and review the differences between parakeratinized odontogenic keratocyst and orthokeratinized odontogenic cyst.
