Abstract

Dental implants have become an indispensable established therapy in dentistry in order to replace missing teeth in different clinical situations. Although implant therapy has been identified as a successful and predictable treatment, complications and failures can occur. Periimplantitis is considered a biologic complication that results in bone loss around implants and may lead to implant treatment failure. Accurate diagnosis and treatment of periimplantitis is essential to avoid failure of implant. Therefore, in this study, knowledge amongst interns and postgraduate students of peri-implantitis was assessed. This descriptive research was conducted among interns and post-graduate students from the school of dental sciences, karad. Subjects willing to participate in the study were fill a questionnaire, which included questions related to their knowledge about the periimplantitis. Total of 100 students who filled out the questionnaires shows a significant statistical relation between the knowledge. Post graduate students have significantly higher knowledge than interns. The rate of interns and post-graduate students knowledge regarding peri-implantitis diseases were average.
