Abstract

Moringa oleifera popularly known as “Moringa” is a versatile and worldwide found edible plant of tropical and subtropical areas which serves multipurpose use due to its wide range of minerals, vitamins, antioxidants and phytochemicals content. Nutritive-dense Moringa is highly recommended for wide spread adoption by medical practitioners, nutritionists, Community leaders, traditional healers and NGO’s. In turn, adoption of Moringa is getting momentum day by day. This paper highlights the findings regarding the adoption of Moringa by rural clientele in view of five parameters of “Diffusion of Innovations” theory entitled as Relative advantage, Compatibility, Complexity, Observability and Trialability given by Rogers, 1983. Further suggestions are provided to arrive at scientific consensus to procure nutritional benefits of Moringa. This study support the adoption status of Moringa in pursuance of five attributes as nutrient supplement for nurturing malnourished population of India and other developing countries. This research work would serve as a background for future research programmes in fortification and value addition of Moringa.
