Abstract

Nitrogen is the most limiting macro-nutrient that determines the crop productivity. However, soil application of nitrogen in the form of chemical fertilizer might be subjected to various losses. Foliar application of urea is a well-known technique to abate acute deficiency at any crop growing stage. To evaluate the comparative performance of soil application of urea and foliar application of nano-urea and response of Pearl millet crop, a field investigation was conducted at farmers field during kharif-2021 at Siriyasar Kalan village of Jhunjhunu district in Rajasthan. In control plot granular urea (75 kg/ha) was applied as basal dose (37.50 kg/ha) &top dressing (37.50 kg/ha) while in another plot 37.5 kg per hectare nitrogen was supplied by basal application followed by two foliar spray of Nano Urea @ 2 ml/litre of water at tillering and ear formation stage. Results of trial revealed that yield of grain in nano urea sprayed plot (11.21 q/ ha) was 8.96 per cent higher than granular urea applied plot (10.29 q/ha). The monetary benefit (Rs/ha.) in nano urea sprayed plot over granular urea applied plot was 1420 rupees per hectare and benefit cost ratio for nano urea sprayed plot &granular urea applied plot was 1.19 & 1.15, respectively.
