Abstract

The present investigation entitled “Effect of Biochar, Fly ash, Coal, Vermicompost and FYM on Vegetative Growth Attributes of Palak (Beta vulgaris L.)” was carried out at the experimental field of the Department of Horticulture (ARC-B), Faculty of Agriculture, Tantia University, Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, during the Rabi season 2024-25. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications and seven treatments, including RDF @ 60:40:40 kg NPK/ha in combination with different soil amendments. The ‘All Green’ variety of palak was selected as the test crop. Observations on growth attributes were recorded at 30, 45 and 60 DAS. The results revealed that T5 (RDF + Vermicompost @ 5 t/ha) consistently outperformed other treatments, recording the highest plant height (24.73cm, 33.00cm and 40.40 cm), number of leaves per plant (8.0, 10.4 and 13.1) and petiole length (8.9cm, 11.4cm and 13.4cm). It may be concluded that the integration of RDF with vermicompost significantly enhanced the vegetative growth attributes of palak compared to other treatments under the Agro-climatic conditions of Rajasthan.
