Abstract

This research is conducted for the study of knowledge and practices of women about the kitchen gardening. Study imparted for the area of Sriganganagar district of Rajasthan. A sample of 80 women was drawn by the random sampling technique for the study purpose. A schedule was prepared to measure the knowledge and practices of kitchen gardening. The responses were collected with the help of interview schedule by personal interview method. The collected data were classified, tabulated and statistically analyzed which lead to conclusion that 87 per cent women were familiar with seed sowing methods, 63 per cent women knew about the irrigation according to season, where as only 37 per cent women know about the manure application. Over all majority of women had average knowledge about the kitchen gardening. Only 16 per cent women used their 100 per cent knowledge into practice, where as majority of women (65 per cent) did not use their knowledge in kitchen gardening practices.
