A study was conducted among 240 rural and urban women in Bikaner district of Rajasthan. In Bikaner region several age old practices were being used by the respondents for safe storage of food grains and to prevent them from insect and pests. Indigenous practices related to storage of food grain practices were documented a interview schedule was developed. Findings of the study revealed that maximum number of the respondents (87.50%) used to store their grains in mud kothi because it protect grains from moisture, air, insects and was easily accessible, followed by neem leaves (85.42%), Ash (80.42%), Iron container (72.92%), mud pot with cow dung (44.17%), spices and condiments (35.42%), used common salt (22.92%) and pudina leaves (10.42%) for storage of their eatable food product.
