Abstract

A study was conducted pertaining to the tribal rich population of Panchmahals district of Gujarat, at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Panchmahals. In order to improve the socio-economic conditions of resourcespoor tribal farmers of the district, six models were prepared in which all the ingredients were incorporated. These models were prepared in view of the need of farmers and availability of resources. These models were offered to the farmers according their resources. Among the different models, the model No. 4 was preferred by the farmers in which the arable crops (Rice+ Maize+ Pigeon pea +Wheat/Gram), along with two Bullocks, one Cow and Buffalo, 10 Goats and 20 poultry birds as backyard farming and biogas unit were integrated. While model No-5 was liked by the farmers who had irrigation facilities and were resourceful financial position wise as well as in land holding. The net income returns per year from G0, G1, G2, G3, G4 and G5 were recorded Rs 20200, 64370, 84120, 116920, 123420 and 347800, respectively.
