Abstract

Cumin or Jeera (Cuminum cyminum L.) is an important seed spice crop. Cumin is mainly cultivated in the states of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Soil borne diseases are serious threat to cumin cultivation. Krishi Vigyan Kendra Ajmer conducted an on farm trial during 2014–15 and 2015–16 to find out the effective management technology to control wilt in cumin. The treatments were seed treatment with bavistin @ 2 gm/kg seed as recommended practice whereas seed treatment with trichoderma @ 6 gm/kg seed and soil treatment with trichoderma @ 2.5 kg/ha enriched with 100 kg compost as intervening point and one control (untreated). The cumin yield in recommended and intervening practice was increased by 07.78 percent and 16.30 percent respectively over farmer practice. Net returns were also higher in recommended and intervening treatments i.e. Rs 62425 & Rs 67100 per ha.
