Abstract

In a case of death from hanging established on post mortem examination and police investigation, the appearance of black eye on the dead body six days after hanging, is a rare and unusual post mortem finding especially in the absence of any head injury and needs to be investigated from different medico legal angles by the forensic expert. An attempt has been made in this paper to establish the presence of black eye on the dead body in relation to hanging with discussion on the differential diagnosis of this unusual finding.
