Abstract

Sexual offence has always been a part of human culture, and women are the victims in most of the time causing both physical and mental injury to the lady. Sex-violence needs justice for protection and preservation of dignity of a female. The aim of the study was to know the different aspects of the sexual assault in and around Guwahati, Assam, the Gateway to North Eastern region.

This study includes a total of 382 cases that shows female victims of 98.43% outnumbering the male victims (sodomy). This study also revealed that the commonest age group was to be 11–20 years with a 55.76% of total cases while 30.37% cases were occurred in the last quarter of the year.

However this study still needs a very systematic through analysis using modern tools with the involvement of a multidisciplinary team for evaluation of a good outcome, etc.
