Abstract

Ludhiana, being a hub of hosiery material, is a densely populated district. Due to increased chances of employment and swift urbanisation people from various parts of the country reaches this beautiful city of Punjab. Small, unplanned streets, roads and highways, incompetent traffic system, careless driving along with incredible development in road transport sector etc results in choas in the city thus leads to sharp raise of road traffic accidents in Ludhiana which is an unanticipated, illfated and sad event. The cause of accidents varies from individual to individual, age to age, sex and educational status the victim. So for the prevention of road traffic accidents and treatment of the victim a broader and comprehensive strategy is needed taking into account of its etiology as well as epidemiological aspects.
