Nail growth rate is an interesting aid in forensic investigation as nails don't decompose like that of other soft tissues. Though researchers have done some work on this topic, they are far and few. Moreover, a lot of ambiguity also exists regarding the scientific validity of detection of growth rate as an accepted tool for identification. In this study, we have tried to find out the difference in nail growth in relation to sex differences in general without considering any other confounding factors and its growth rate. Our study recorded the data obtained from 306 subjects in whom electoral stains were present and was carried out on June 20th 2013. The results were recorded and statistically analyzed. The growth rate was found to be relatively more in males.
